The Jarrell Plantation, a state historic site, is an original middle Georgia plantation consisting of 20 historic buildings dating between 1847 and 1945. The site has one of the largest and most complete collections of original family artifacts of this time period in Georgia. Visitors may tour the 1847 plantation plain-style house, the mill complex, carpenter shop, blacksmith shop, and other buildings. During special seasonal programs, spinning, weaving, woodstove cooking, blacksmithing, and other demonstrations and special programs can be observed. Old Clinton Historical District: Clinton, the original county seat of Jones County, is a site of historical significance featuring 12 homes built between 1808 and 1830. Many of the historic homes may be viewed during special tours of homes sponsored by the Clinton Historical Society. The Old Clinton Historic District was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 to help preserve and restore what was once one of the fastest growing centers of trade and culture in Georgia. Old Clinton is included on Georgia's Antebellum Trail and "Old Clinton War Days" is a re-enactment of the Federal occupation of Clinton sponsored in May each year in conjunction with the 16th Georgia, Company G, Jackson Rifles of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Clinton is located one and one half miles SW of downtown Gray just off Highway 129.
